The Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB50420 – CRICOS Code 104402F) is the latest nationally accredited qualification for learners who wish to develop skills and knowledge in leading and managing workplace relationships and team effectiveness.
This course will help you develop the ability and confidence to better manage, perform, motivate and ultimately become a successful leader.

How is the course delivered?
The Diploma of Leadership and Management is delivered face to face via classroom sessions in the College of New South Wales campus, or in an institutional environment with an online distance learning component.
Course Duration:The Diploma of Leadership and Management duration is up to 78 weeks. There are 60 weeks of course delivery plus 18 weeks term break.
Expected Study Hours: Up to approximately 20 hours per week is required from each learner to complete this qualification, depending on the learner’s existing knowledge, skills, and experience.

The Diploma of Leadership and Management course equip you with the skills required in providing leadership and management in different industries and workplaces.
During this course, you will learn how to develop and use emotional intelligence, manage operational plans and people performance, and lead and manage effective workplace relationships and team effectiveness. The course will also teach you how to facilitate continuous improvement in the workplace, build and sustain an innovative work environment, and manage risks.

What are the units of competency in this qualification?
The Diploma of Leadership and Management is comprised of 6 core and 6 elective units, for a total of 12 units.

The learners’ progress will be assessed via CNSW’s Assessment Suite, which includes a combination of
- Written knowledge assessments
- Projects
- Tasks based on simulated scenarios and case studies
- Observation via demonstration or role play
What are the entry requirements?
For domestic students, there are no prerequisites required to enrol in the BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management course. However, it is preferred that students:
- Are 18 years of age or over
Are living or working in the Pyrmont or Sydney area
Have successfully completed at least Australian High School Year 12, or equivalent
Have basic computer skills - Have sound Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills (applicants who do not hold a minimum qualification of Certificate III or above from an Australian institution will be required to complete an LLN assessment, where their language, literacy and numeracy skills will be reviewed with writing tests and face-to-face interviews.*)
*Students who fail to meet the LLN requirements of the course may still be enrolled to the course provided that enrolment has been endorsed by the trainer and corresponding additional support strategies have been put in place.
For international students, the following entry requirements are needed:
- International students must hold a current Student Visa
- International students from non-English-speaking backgrounds are required to provide any one of the following evidence of Advanced proficiency in English: IELTS total band score of at least 6.0 with no band less than 5.5 or equivalent; Occupational English Test (OET), TOEFL iBT, Pearson Test of English, and Cambridge English: Advanced with scores equivalent to IELTS 6.0 and no less than 5.5 in each band (please see table below for reference)
Note: The English test must have been taken within two years before the application is made.

What are the resources needed to complete the course?
To support you in your training, College of New South Wales will provide:
- Learner Guides
- Assessment Workbook
- Helpful resources (Templates and Extra Handouts)
- Simulated environment (in cases where the student does not have access to a workplace)
- WHS templates (including risk management resources)
- Relevant legislation, acts, regulations, standards, and codes
- Relevant workplace and organisational policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, organisational strategic and operation plans and policies and procedures for managing meetings
- Relevant workplace/office equipment, supplies, and resources, including, but not limited to, computers and relevant software
- Relevant workplace documentation and resources, including, but not limited to, reference materials in regard to meeting venues and technology
During your course, you will have to arrange access to:
- A workplace where you can complete your assessments under a supervisor, where possible (CNSW will provide a simulated environment for students unable to secure a workplace for their assessments)
- The Internet
- A computer or laptop with relevant software such as, but not limited to, Google Chrome, MS Word and PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Reader
- A video recording equipment (e.g. mobile phone or video recorder) to record role-play activities and presentations
- At least three (3) people who will participate in various assessment activities, including meetings, role plays, and providing feedback
What are the course fees?
The course tuition fee for the Diploma of Leadership and Management course is $10,499.
Course payments are made following the schedule below:
- $1,500 deposit upon enrolment (Included $200 enrolment fee and $150 material fee)
- Within two weeks after the commencement day: $9,349.00 tuition fee
