Here are some of the expenses you can expect while studying in Australia (all in Australian dollars):

- On campus– $90 to $280 per week
- Homestay– $235 to $325 per week
- Rental– $165 to $440 per week
- Boarding schools – $11,000 to $22,000 a year

- Phone and Internet – $20 to $55 per week

Minimum cost of living
The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has financial requirements you must meet in order to receive a student visa for Australia. From 10 May 2024, the 12 month living cost is:
- You – $29,710
- Partner or spouse– $10,394
- Child – $4,449

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
All international students enrolled in a formal course and their dependents (spouses, children under 18 years old, etc) must hold OSHC during their entire stay in Australia. This covers doctor visits, some hospital treatment, ambulance cover and limited pharmaceuticals and medicines.
There are several OSHC providers available for international students, and the range of products and services you get will depend on your provider. The ESOS Framework for International Students
The Australian Government wants international students to have a rewarding, enjoyable and safe experience when they come to Australia to study. High quality services and protection from the Australian education system are available for international students to ensure you make the most of your time here.
The laws that protect international students form the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) framework. They include the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 and the ESOS National Code.
